Call to Worship (Hear God call you to worship through His Word) - Psalm 119:10-18

Psalm 119:10–18 (ESV)10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. 12 Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes! 13 With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. 14 In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. 16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. 17 Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. 18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of this morning and whatever part of this day you choose to give us.  May we use it for You and your purposes. Help us to focus and stay focused on You this morning during this time of prayer. Grant us the grace to hear Your voice and respond to your call. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 11 (English Standard Version)

1 In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain, 2 for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; 3 if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” 4 The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man. 5 The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. 6 Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.

Reflect

Scripture Reading: Psalm 11 (New Jerusalem Bible)

1 In Yahweh I have found refuge. How can you say to me, ‘Bird, flee to your mountain? 2 ‘For look, the wicked are drawing their bows, fitting their arrows to the string to shoot honest men from the shadows. 3 If the foundations fall to ruin, what can the upright do?’ 4 Yahweh in his holy temple! Yahweh, his throne is in heaven; his eyes watch over the world, his gaze scrutinises the children of Adam. 5 Yahweh examines the upright and the wicked, the lover of violence he detests. 6 He will rain down red-hot coals, fire and sulphur on the wicked, a scorching wind will be their lot. 7 For Yahweh is upright and loves uprightness, the honest will ever see his face.

Reflect

Scripture Reading: Psalm 11 (New Living Translation)

1 I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me, “Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety! 2 The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right. 3 The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?” 4 But the Lord is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth. 5 The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence. 6 He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked, punishing them with scorching winds. 7 For the righteous Lord loves justice. The virtuous will see his face.

Prayer

Lord, Thank You for Your goodness, Your grace, and Your rescue. Thank You for what You have highlighted to us today. Help us to rest in the truth of Your words, and plant them in our hearts securely. In Jesus’ name we pray…

Lord’s Prayer (Pray the words that Jesus taught us to pray)

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name;

your kingdom come;

your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For yours is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, forever. Amen.
