In our recent teaching series, "The Great 8," we discovered how TRUTH + HABITS + TIME = CHANGE. According to research done by the UCL (University College London), it takes an average of 66 days to form a new habit. In other words, it takes 66 days before we tend to do something automatically simply because we've done that same thing over and over. Well, it just so happens that there are also 66 books in the Bible!
We invite you to join us in our Eat This! challenge that has nothing to do with consuming vast amounts of hot dogs and everything to do with making Bible study a habit in our lives. Each day, for 66 days, there will be three different courses that you can eat, depending on your time commitment. Most days, all three courses can be eaten in 30 minutes or less.
- Appetizer: read a single verse from each book of the Bible that, when viewed collectively, can help you better understand the entire story of the Bible. (These verses are taken from Stan Guthrie's "God's Story in 66 Verses." You may want to purchase the book so that you can read the two or three pages that go with each verse.)
- Main Course: read a chapter (or two) from each book of the Bible.
- Dessert: watch a video from The Bible Project that will help you understand the entire book as well as how it fits into the story of the Bible. In addition, you can click on the book icon to read a synopsis of the book from OverviewBible.
